USF 2nd Half Surge Beats NIU 27-3 in International Bowl

BJ Daniels(Toronto Can.) – Our Friends north of the border got a taste of South Florida scoring 24 unanswered 2nd half points to pull away from the 3-3 tie at the half .  The Bull’s RB Mike Ford who ran one time in the 1st half found new life in the 2nd by totaling 207 yds. rushing. USF QB BJ Daniels threw for 2 TD’s.  Credit to the USF Defense ,NIU was just ineffective in the 2nd half. The Spread here was USF -7. Wagerers here were probably scratching their heads at first but realized they made the right choice in the 2nd half.

How Sweet it is: Florida Wins Sugar Bowl 51-24

Florida's Tim Tebow(New Orleans,La) – I guess the loss to Alabama almost a month ago was enough time for  Tim Tebow to think about it. Its too bad that the Coachless Cincy Bearcats had to get in his way. This one was over before it began. Tebow was an amazing 31/35 for 482 and 3 Touchdowns that just carved up the Cincinnati secondary. Tim Tebow leaves his storied College career for the professional ranks. I may be one of the few who thinks he will have a spectacular pro career. The spread here was +13 for Cincinnati for some thought was a lot. Too bad they didn’t figure in the Tebow factor.

Penn State Wins Soggy Capitol One Bowl 19-17

DClark calls signals near the goal line

D Clark calls signals near the goal line

(Orlando,Fla) – The Penn State Nittany Lions put together a  12 play 65 yd. drive down the soggy, lumpy, rain soaked field behind their leader Daryll Clark in the final minutes to take the lead 19-17. They wanted the 6, but had to settle for the 3. The LSU determined defense kept them out of the end zone which gave them a chance with 57 seconds left for at least a shot at a field goal.  LSU’s Trindon Holliday returned the kickoff to the forty. However, they ran out of time as Penn State beats LSU to win the Capitol One Bowl in what I describe as a classic heavyweight fight between two College Football Titans. LSU ‘s 4th qtr. touchdown helped out wagerers playing LSU +3,and even better when Penn State failed to convert a TD late. If you had an HDTV you got what you paid for. This was the game that gives you the reason to buy the nice TV.

Ohio State Stalls Oregon-Wins the Rose Bowl 26-17

Terrell Pryor(Pasadena,Ca) – The magic didn’t happen for Oregon who came up short. The Ohio State defense just had Jeremiah Masoli figured out. Terrell Pryor did his thing dancing ,evading, passing and making it work out when he needed it to. They played a great game. Oregon looked like they had the momentum when they took the 3rd Qtr. lead 17-16. But Ohio State came back with an 11 play 60 yd drive for a FG to take back the lead 19-17, which was all they eventually needed. They capped that with a 13 play 80 yd drive for a TD. Terrell Pryor  who went 23/37 for 266 yds 2 td’s played great! The Jeremiah Masoli  that so many are used to seeing perform his touch, couldn’t find his rythymn. Much  attributed to the Ohio St. Defense. Oregon was favored by 4 1/2 and  it looked liked they may of had a chance but that was short lived.  It was a great game to watch!

Bobby Goes in Style, Fla St. Wins Gator Bowl 33-21

Bobby Bowden holds Gator Bowl Trophy

Bobby Bowden holds Gator Bowl Trophy

(Jacksonville,Fla) – After West Virginia got their 14-7 lead, that was the end of them. After that it was all Florida State. I would imagine this being Bobby’s last game must have shook their players because they started moving the ball. FSU drove the ball and made 6 of their last 8 drives count for points. WVu let FSU get too far away and won the game 33-21. WVU was the Favored -3 was never an issue at after the 3rd qtr.   For Bobby Bowden its hard to believe he;s really going to go. He seems like he can keep going on and will certainly be missed. He was asked is this a memorable moment, “It’s got to be memorable,” Bowden said. “It’s my last dadgum ballgame after 57 years of coaching.”

Auburn Survives Fake FG wins Outback Bowl 38-35 in OT

Northwestern Kicker Demos(Tampa,Fla) – Northwestern’s Kicker Stephan Demos was the victim of roughing the kicker penalty while trying to tie the game in overtime as the ball  hit the right upright of the goalpost. Stephan Demos(pictured) was helped off the field after his try. That gave a different look for Northwestern. Armed with a new set of downs, Northwestern tried to get into the endzone but was unsuccessful. When Auburn saw Demos not coming out on 4th down this time, they knew something was up. They were right! A fake FG run right  was washed out of bounds at the 2 for an Auburn win! This all happened when Northwestern fought back to tie when down 35-21 in the 4th Qtr. Northwestern +8 covered the spread. Auburn took advantage of 5  of Nothwestern’s Mike Kafka errant passes for interceptions. None the less made for a great game to watch.

Prelude to Roses

JMasoli Oregon(Pasadena,Ca) – The man of the hour Oregon’s Jeremaih Masoli has gained national noteriety with The Read Offense that operates at a very high level. First year Head Coach Chip Kelly and his Ducks are coming in confident they can get the job done. It all starts with Masoli and his magical looking read offense that seems to thwart any offensive coordinator’s ability to stop them. Masoli runs, fakes, throws like no other. When he’s no doing that he’s got running back RB  LaMichael James and a Receiving core made up of  WR Jeff Maehl and TE Ed Dickson.T Pryor Ohio St.Ohio St. proponents talk about Terrell Pryor who of late has seem to find his groove, even beating Penn St. He gonna need some help from his teamates,He can’t do it all. You have to think in order to keep up with Oregon, the top ranked Ohio State D needs to step it up.This Writer likes Oregon to win going away and give the 4+ points. JC Bookmark and Share

Va Tech Wins The Chick Fil-A Bowl 37-14

Va Tech's record holder Ryan Williams

Ryan Williams became Va.Tech's Single Season Rushing Leader

(Atlanta,Ga) – It was stated  Va Tech’s RB Ryan Williams would make a difference, and so he did. He ran for 117yds on 25 carries which gave him the single season rushing record  in VA Tech History. The yards he gained were all Va Tech Needed to put away Tennessee. A 17-14 Halftime score  would make for an interesting 2nd half. But The running of Williams made Va Tech drives all count. Matt Walfron’s 3 FG’s added to 2 Va Tech Touchdowns that Tennessee  couldn’t answer made the difference. The Spread here was a -6 for Va Tech. Wagerers felt good watching this game pan out as they thought. Va Tech just wore down Tennesse in the end.

Iowa State Wins Insight Bowl 14-13

Idaho State's QB Austen Arnaud(Phoenix,Az) – Today’s Insight bowl was probably another name for the Lackluster Bowl. The only excitement here was if with you were from Iowa or you picked Iowa +3 to win your wager. Its always nice to get points and not need them. The trembling for Iowa St. wagerers came when Minnesota down 14-13, was driving seemingly for a go ahead score or possibly the winning score with 4:00 left. Minnesota RB Marquies Gray had the ball knocked away from him heading into the line.It was recovered by Iowa St. Terran Benton. Iowa  St.+3 dog managed to run the clock out from there to seal the victory. Iowa State’s Austen Arnaud responsible for a 9yd td run and 38 yd td pass was all they needed to win. Bookmark and Share

OU Survives Stanford and Wins The Sun Bowl 34-27

Stanford Head Coach J Harbaugh

Stanford Coach J Harbaugh misses his chance to win

(El Paso,Tx) – Landry Jones threw 3 Touchdown passes to Ryan Broyles, as OU did just enough to overcome Stanford’s Toby Gerhart’s onslaught.Gerhart ran for 135 yds and 2 td’s. What a great game this was. Two teams with great programs and great coaching, fighting it out till the end. OU down 24-17 to Stanford at the break came out with 2 3rd quarter scores to take the lead 31-24. Stanford added a FG to come within 4, 31-27. OU  then missed a Field Goal with just over 3 minutes left.  That gave Stanford a shot to get down the field, but it didn’t happen as Stanford failed to convert on a fourth down on their own side, giving OU a Sun Bowl Victory. However Stanford was spotted a +10 spread in which for  a moment may have seemed to be in jeopardy.OU on a 3rd and 10 failed to convert at the Stanford 15 , a touchdown would have made it 38-27, BUT it didn’t happen. Even Patrick O Hara missed his FG.
