Hoops,Hoops and More Hoops
ESPN and CBS has a full schedule of games today that goes all day, and its just the beginning. Although its the end of the regular season this weekend for most of the top 25 teams, it just precludes the mayhem before the madness, The Conference Championships and the NCAA Tournament. The equivalant to College Bowl Season or maybe even Bowl Season on Steroids. There’s a lot to choose from as far as wagering and watching and to have some fun today.
Games of Interest:
#8 W Virginia @ #9 Villanova 12:00 est CBS This is a great game to see if Villanova’s Scottie Reynolds can get hot and Jay Wright’s Wildcats can up themselves from from their 4-4 record of late after starting out 21-1?? WVU is going to need everything Da Sean Butler has to handle this prideful Villanova team who is giving 3 points to WVU. I’m liking the NOVA to cover the 3 @home.
#1 Syracuse @ Louisville – 2:00 est ESPN - The new #1 can can show why they are currently the best team in the nation coming off trounces of Villanova and ST. Johns. Going to Louisville to face Rick Pitino’s Cardinals who need to step it up here, losing to a downward Georgetown, a narrow victory over a mediocre Connecticut and a 21 point loss to Marquette. Maybe someone can tell me why Syracuse is just a -1 favorite in this one? Could it be the fact that Louisville probably needs this game more than Syracuse does, in order to secure a spot in the tournament.? Hmm. Syracuse covers.
North Carolina @ #4 Duke 6:00 est ESPN: This is always a game to watch no matter what time of the year it is. Whenever these to teams meet it doesn’t matter whats at stake other than pride its always fiesty. Duke is 17-0 SU and 13-5 ATS at home. NC is 4-7 ATS away. Duke should win this, and give Scheyer a win @ home against NC, but can they beat them by 14+ points? Theres something about this match up that brings out the best in both teams. I have a feeling that Duke doesn’t cover.
#25 Texas @ #22 Baylor 4:00 est ESPN This game is interesting because of Baylor. What a good team this is.They’re battlers. They’ve played some good teams and handled their business repectively. Their losses to Kansas by 6 and K State by 2 show this team can play with anyone. Teams like this ranked 22 nationally can be a nice surprise in the NCAA Tournament. They also need to win this game today to gain a bye an the Big 12 Tourney. It’ll be fun to watch Baylor’s guard play with Lacedarius Dunn, who put up 27 against Kansas, and Tweety Carter who put up 27 against Texas last time they played. Its Baylor -4 @ home, I like Baylor to cover.
#2 Kansas @ Missouri 2:00 est CBS There’s no way Kansas loses this one before heading into the Big 12 Tournament. Even though their #2 in the Nation wanting to win the Big 12 and posturing for the Big one, what will it say if they lose to Missouri. The spread here is 3 and a half @ BODOG.COM For some reason I just can’t see Missouri’s Kim English doing enough to beat Kansas or cover. For me? Kansas minus the 3 and a half covers
